Phil America and PETA Team Up for Pro-Vegan Streetwear Line

Los Angeles – Animal-friendly streetwear style has never been easier, thanks to vegan artist, designer, and influencer Phil America’s brand-new capsule collection collaboration with PETA, “People Are Animals,” which launched today. Modeled by actor and singer Stéphanie Gérard and other influencers, the collection features black T-shirts emblazoned with twists on PETA’s logo and bold green hoodies patterned with psychedelic images of monkeys, zebras, and other animals.

A video accompanying the drop shows a montage of humans’ eyes next to those of other animals, including birds, snakes, and cats—Phil America’s way of encouraging everyone to see the world through others’ eyes and understand what everyone has in common. And to help achieve that shift to multiple perspectives, a brand-new, custom Instagram filter that mimics the effect of 3-D glasses makes pieces from the “People Are Animals” collection appear to change color and even morph into two separate designs.

“Getting to work with PETA is always special to me, as a lifelong supporter,” says Phil America. “With this collection, we have created a new design language for people who want to both support PETA and speak up for animal welfare.”

Vegan fashion collections like Phil America’s spare animals immense suffering. Exposés by PETA have revealed cows being burned, electroshocked, and beaten before they’re slaughtered for leather; workers strapping crying alpacas to a rack in the alpaca fleece industry; workers punching sheep in the wool industry; sensitive goats suffering from bloody, gaping wounds at mohair and cashmere operations; and workers tearing out birds’ feathers by the fistful for down. Wearing vegan also helps protect the planet: Leather production requires the use of 130 chemicals, including cyanide, and releases massive amounts of greenhouse gases, which contribute to the climate catastrophe.
